Project Overview
IBSTAC Architects & Planners, formerly the Architecture Division of the Institute for Building Science and Technology (IBST), participated in the architectural design competition for the 5,000-seat My Dinh Multi-purpose Sports Hall, part of the National Sports Complex in Hanoi.
The competition was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the My Dinh National Sports Complex Management Board.
The IBSTAC–PST proposal received the Second Prize, sharing the top position with a renowned German architectural firm. No First Prize was awarded.

Design Vision
Located within the My Dinh National Sports Complex, the Sports Hall was envisioned as a world-class indoor arena, designed to host major international and national sports events.
According to Architect Trinh Anh Tuan, the lead designer, the IBSTAC–PST proposal successfully conveyed the Vietnamese spirit through a modern, globally integrated architectural language — a defining strength that earned the project its high recognition.
Significance
The My Dinh Multi-purpose Sports Hall represents a milestone for Vietnamese sports architecture — blending modern design, cultural identity, and functionality, while positioning Hanoi as a future host city for international sporting events.
